About Ruth
|
|
Ruth works with a deepened palette to recreate the spirit and strength of the Michigan landscape, its patterns of hills and dunes, fragile flowers and grasses, shimmering water and poetic sky. Purple is her favorite color, and through it she captures the light and shadow of Leelanau, the Land of Delight.
Academically trained at the Art Institute of Chicago,
Vassar College and Goucher College, Ruth also has studied at Northwestern
MichiganCollege and the John Campbell Folk School in North Carolina. She
is accomplished in printmaking and wood carving and has worked in acrylic,
oil and pastel.
During the winter months she spends with her husband in Florida, Ruth
paints from sketches and photographs to create new work. Each spring
visitors return to the Glen Arbor Gallery to discover Ruth’s treasured
interpretations of their favorite places. |
